2012

  • Virginia Mason was recognized for its high performance in ten specialties and ranked one of the top hospitals in Seattle in U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals metro-area ranking.
  • Virginia Mason Medical Center received the Healthgrades 2012 Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence. This prestigious distinction places Virginia Mason among the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide for clinical performance.
  • Virginia Mason Medical Center named Leapfrog Group 2012 Top Hospital. This is the 7th consecutive year Virginia Mason has received this honor.
  • Virginia Mason ranked among the 100 Best Hospitals in the nation for Cardiac, Pulmonary, Neurosciences, Gastrointestinal, General Surgery and Critical Care by Healthgrades.
  • Virginia Mason Chairman and CEO Gary Kaplan, MD, is ranked 41st on Modern Healthcare's 2011 list of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.

We have several recognition awards for team members who play key roles in our delivery of excellent patient care:

  • The Terin Guinn Award is given annually for exemplary leadership work by a member of the management team.
  • The Mary McClinton Award is presented to a clinical team for outstanding contributions to patient safety.
  • The Tate Mason Award is annually awarded to VM's outstanding physician, as chosen by peers.
  • The Professional Recognition Program and the Daisy Award are just two of the ways nurses are recognized both internally and by outside organizations for the enormous contributions they make to patient care.
