Job Description
GI medical oncologist with proven research, Phase I clinical trial development experience and leadership abilities, to enhance and expand our program in GI malignancies. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional clinician with years of experience, excellent communication and team building skills and will be able to work collaboratively with the Cancer Institute care team.
Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC) is recognized as one of the country's foremost institutions in the care of hepatobiliary, pancreatic, esophageal, and colorectal cancers. We provide coordinated, patient centered care across the continuum with cutting edge diagnostic, surgical and medical care regimens and a survivorship program. Our team of cancer caregivers includes nationally recognized physicians and researchers. Patients have opportunities to participate in research trials through the NCI CCOP mechanism, the Benaroya Research Institute, and the Digestive Diseases Institute at Virginia Mason.
The Cancer Institute is accreditated by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Commendation was awarded for performance in four areas. The Cancer Institute was newly remodeled with 30 private infusion rooms.

Practice Description : We have a strong team approach to oncology care, with expertise in the full range of oncology service lines. Pursuit of clinical research, outcomes evaluation programs, publication and participation in clinical trials are all encouraged and supported. We have a solid referral base from our neighboring western states. Our faculty members work with Fred Hutchinson fellows from the University of Washington. We built a new, state-of-the-art hospital next to our current facility in 2010.
In recent years, Virginia Mason has attracted national attention for our work in patient safety and for delivering high-quality, cost-effective care. Our efforts in applying lean production principles to the health care setting have been featured in the Wall Street Journal and the AMA's American Medical News, and have led to recognition including the Leapfrog Governance for Quality Award.
